This machine is a 1939 Singer Sewing Machine. I collected this machine
from another E Bayer, Thanks (Zisterbag) Andrew. Wimbledon Chase.
The Machine body was in particularly bad condition, very tarnished and the box
was badly damaged. This restoration took me about 3 weeks.
Again, the machine was stripped to individual components, oiled and re
calibrated. The cotton holder was missing, I managed to use
an old Gate Hook (I know, sounds funny), shaped and polished it. The outcome is
now the machine works very silently, sews like a dream and has a lovely base.
This individual machine is a 201 class, the serial number was allocated on June
7th 1939 and 1 of a batch of 60'000.
Made in a factory in Kilbowie Clydebank Scotland.
