We bought this machine from E Bay in September 2009, thanks to Bob from
Yeovil. This restoration project has only taken a few weeks.
The base box again had some damage and had to be stripped and varnished.
The mechanics of the machine was also fairly poor, and some internal rust. This
was stripped completely down, oiled and re set.
The machine is now in excellent working order. Finally I will be working on the
cover. This is badly damaged due to the
laminated wood bubbling and splitting and will take a bit more time.
The machine was manufactured in 1947, the model is the 206K. The serial number
was allocated on October 14th.
This particular machine is 1 out of a batch of 20'000. And made in a factory in Kilbowie, Clydebank Scotland.
