Ingredients: Stewing Steak, 3 Medium Size Onions, 3 Carrots, Suede
(Same weight
as carrots), 2 Large Potatoes, Suet Pudding Mix
Plain Flour, Oxo Cubes x2, Brown Sauce, Worcestershire Sauce, Soya Sauce, Tomato
Puree, Salt & Water. Would be advisable to buy a casserole dish for this recipe |
 |
Gather all
your ingredients together as show. Missing from this picture are 3
carrots and soy sauce,
Note: Make sure up until the point you add the dumplings the
casserole dish must have the lid on when put in the oven. |
 |
Cube the
beef and place in the casserole dish, add boiling hot water to half
the volume of the dish, don't worry if this look's like too much
water, then place in a pre heated oven 160d (Fan) while preparing
the following. |
 |
Cut in
small chunks your onions, suede and carrots. Baring in mind you
should have an equal weight of carrots to suede. |
 |
Crumble on
top your Oxo cubes. |
 |
Add about 2
table spoons or more of brown sauce as shown, also add 2 teaspoons
of Worcestershire sauce and a tablespoon of Soy sauce. You can add
as much of these sauces as you fancy according to taste. |
 |
Finally add
a tablespoon of tomato puree, again according to you personal taste
you can add less or more. |
 |
Once all
this is done, put back inside the oven, this is where you need to be
patient, leave in the oven for 1 hour, the take out and stir, Put
back in for 1 hour and the stir, you may need to add water if the
volume drops, continue this to max 3 hours. |
 |
Once you
have a nice thickness and the beef and vegetables are tender to soft
cube your potatoes and add to the pot, put back in oven and bake
until the potatoes are very soft, say 3/4 to 1 hour. |
 |
The
Dumplings require 4 tablespoons of Atora pudding mix and 8
tablespoons of plain flour, add to a mixing bowel or jug (as
illustrated) the add cold water, until you get a sticky dough, the
consistency of chewing gum. |
 |
Remove the
casserole dish from the oven, hopefully it should look a bit like
this, well cooked soft and with a lovely aroma. |
 |
Using
spoons, I find this easiest drop 4 portions of your dumpling
Mix in the casserole dish. |
 |
See, I told
you so. Then you need to put this back in the oven, this time don't
put the lid on the dish, so you can brown the tops of the dumplings.
Leave for about 20 to 40 min's until the tops of the dumplings are
crusty |
 |
Once all
cooked it should hopefully look something like this. |
 |
Serve up in
a deep plate and enjoy. |
